FREE LIVE ZOOM CHALLENGE · THURSDAY 5 & FRIDAY 6 NOVEMBER
Stop freezing when it’s your turn to solo. In two live sessions you’ll learn the tools jazz pianists use to create melodies on the spot, then use them to play a real solo over a jazz standard.

You know a few scales, but the moment it’s your turn to solo, your mind goes blank.
Your improvising sounds like exercises, not music.
You can play the melody of a tune, but have no idea what to do after it.
You’ve collected licks and watched endless videos, yet nothing sticks when you sit down to play.
Here’s the good news: improvising isn’t about knowing more scales. It’s composing a melody in real time, and that is a skill you can learn one step at a time. This challenge shows you how.
WHAT HAPPENS OVER THE TWO DAYS
DAY 1 · THURSDAY 5 NOVEMBER
The pentatonic scale: five notes that sound musical straight away, and how to use them
Rhythm: why how you play matters as much as which notes you choose
Melodic embellishment: simple ways to decorate a melody and make it your own
DAY 2 · FRIDAY 6 NOVEMBER
How to apply the pentatonic scale, rhythm and embellishment over an actual jazz standard
How to create your own lines instead of copying licks
How to shape a solo with a clear beginning, middle and end
You’ll practise every idea the way I teach in all my courses: focus on one element at a time, connect it in short exercises, then apply it freely in real playing. No overload, just clear progress you can hear.
Adult pianists who can play basic chords and a simple melody
Jazz lovers who have never improvised, or who freeze when they try
Players who want a clear, step-by-step path instead of random tips
Anyone who wants to see how I teach before joining one of my courses

MEET YOUR TEACHER
I’m a jazz pianist, multi-instrumentalist and music educator with 14 years of teaching behind me. I created the Jazz Piano Pyramid, a step-by-step path that helps adult learners stop collecting information and start actually playing jazz.
I believe jazz is composing in the moment. Most students don’t need more information; they need a clear way to turn what they already know into music. That’s exactly what these two days are about.
If you enjoy the challenge, you’ll feel right at home in my courses: Jazz Piano Fundamentals, the Jazz Piano Lab and Jazz Piano Improvisation.
Join me live on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 November at 7 PM Zambia time.
